It is highly recommended that for cat flaps to be fitted into glazed doors that you have a professional glazier install the cat flap for you.
For cat flaps to be fitted in UPVC/PVCU doors - when purchasing new doors many companies will install your cat flap/dog door for you before delivering your new door at a nominal cost.
Ensure you have all the necessary equipment to begin with.
| 1. Place the template - included with your Pet Mate cat flap or dog door - in the desired position on the door and draw round it. (Pet Mate recommend the bottom of the hole should be level with your pet's stomach). |
| 2. Use an electric jigsaw to cut along the inside of the line you have just drawn. Be careful to cut the hole square to the door, so the cat flap/dog door will slide in snugly and not leave any gaps around the edges. |
| 3. Determine the thickness of the door. |
| 4. If necessary trim the door liner to the correct depth, so it covers the inside of the hole and gives a neat finish to the inside of the cat flap/dog door. |
| 5. Position the interior frame on the inside of the door and mark the four screw positions. Drill out the four screw holes. Select appropriate sized screws from the chart on the right depending upon the thickness of the door. |

| 5. Fit screw caps for a neat finish. |
| |
| For wall installations - make a suitably sized hole in the wall and line it with 3/4" plywood or similar material to take the screws. |
If it all goes well the flap should swing freely and level.
